The First Lady and I recently launched into a Bond marathon, so I’ve got martinis on the brain. There’s nothing all that exciting about a basic pour though no matter how hard you shake it. Enter these two unique martinis from Mastro’s.
The first of two unique martinis is the classic combo of salt and caramel, but with a new twist. And while you could certainly just use salted caramel vodka in a cocktail, building the flavor with multiple ingredients like Mastros did is at least 143% better. Plus, the Double Cross Vodka bottle might be one of my favorites.
Salted Caramel Martini
- 1 oz. Double Cross Vodka
- 3 oz. Gabriel Boudier Caramel Liqueur
- 1 oz. Tuaca
- splash whipped cream
In a shaker, combine ingredients and shake vigorously over ice. Strain and pour into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with salt rim.
The second of these unique martinis tastes like dessert in a glass. Key lime pie always reminds me of Steve Dahl mocking Oprah’s love affair with key lime pies one of the many times she was dieting, but that’s neither here nor there.
Key Lime Pie Martini
- 2 oz. American Star Lime Vodka
- 2.5oz Licor 43
- Splash Sweet and Sour
- Splash pineapple juice
- 1 lime wedge squeeze and drop in shaker
- splash whipped cream
In a shaker, combine ingredients and shake vigorously over ice. Strain and pour into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with graham cracker rim, lime wedge
