Sleighin’ The Holidays is a Song About Survival by Wine

“Sleighin’ The Holidays” is a new holiday song that’s sure to Swiffer the nation. Yes, that is a Dane Cook joke. No I’m not apologizing. We haven’t had a new hit holiday song since Mariah Carey in 1994, so I’d say it’s about time. The video stars Anna Faris, Cecily Strong, Yvonne Orji, and Chrissie Fit with the Slay Team. The group’s first single was about crushing wine in the summer, and now they’re back with help for the holidays.

“Sleighin’ The Holidays” from the Slay Team is the best new holiday video of November 2018.

“The holidays can be a very stressful time of year, said Laura Bell Bundy, founding member of The Slay Team and who also serves as the video’s co-director, “but we hope this song reminds people that when their glass is half full, they can ‘sleigh’ it– so just chill!”

The song suggest you slay the holidays by drinking your way through them. We can get on board with that, but whiskey is typically the order of the hour. Barefoot Wine is clearly footing the bill for this musical masterpiece though, as evidenced by their $5 footlong bottle of wine appearing in every 10th frame. And before you dismiss the song entirely because of the branding, let’s all recall that Swedish House Mafia’s song Greyhound was specifically created for Absolut vodka.

Admittedly the “Sleighin’ the Holidays” branding is probably better than any wine marketing campaign in recent memory. The plan might just work too because the song is so stupidly catchy that I’ll likely finish the lyric, “All I want for Christmas” with “sparkling wine” now. Sorry Mariah Carey; Tituss Burgess wins.

Produced by Haven Entertainment and MWWPR written by critically-acclaimed actress and songwriter, Laura Bell Bundy, the song and music video plays with the realities and aspirations for a stress-free and chill holiday season in an upbeat and humorous way. From Thanksgiving to gift giving at Christmas and to a special Barefoot New Year’s Eve countdown, Sleighin’ the Holidays follows Faris, Strong and Orji as they find their own personal ways to celebrate and “sleigh” all season long. Fit and her backup singers appear throughout the video, transporting Faris, Strong and Orji to a magical winter wonderland and New Year’s Eve festivities.

“Following the summer success of The Slay Team’s first single, we wanted to give fans a new, fun anthem that empowers them to slay the holidays,” said Anna Bell, Vice President of Marketing at Barefoot. “We are excited to add a few new faces to the group for our new Sleighin’ the Holidays single, and we hope the song helps to keep spirits high throughout the season.”
