New Bud Light Cans bring back AB love
Bud Light has been getting creative for the past year with their packaging. They’ve pushed out Mad Decent Block Party cans, NFL My Team Cans, Tomorrowland cans, and Super Bowl Champion cans. Considering they did everything possible to make us forget the current standard iteration, we probably should have seen it coming that they would be creating new Bud Light cans for their everyday offering.
In 2016, we’ll put a more modern twist on Bud Light, from the way the brand looks to the way it acts. We’re proud to introduce our fresh new look, which pays homage to our most iconic packaging of the past, yet feels current and unique with its bolder logo and distinctive blue colorway. It’s a design that truly stands out from what’s become a sea of sameness in the light beer category. – Alexander Lambrecht, Bud Light vice president of marketing
New Bud Light cans won’t change the way you feel about the beer. Many people love it. Some people hate it. Some people like to mock it publicly and drink it privately. Whatever the case may be, these cans are sexy as hell. No games. No gimicks. Just an attractive vessel for transporting beer… much like myself.
Consumers today want a brand with genuine brewing credentials. Bud Light is leaning into its heritage and unrivaled brewing expertise in a way that’s looking forward, not back. The result is a confident and contemporary expression of a brand consumers have known and loved for decades. – Tosh Hall, creative director at Jones Knowles Ritchie
I’ve never made the connection between genuine brewing credentials and Bud Light before. In retrospect though, it makes sense. Just because AB brewers aren’t pushing out 20 new beers per year doesn’t mean they aren’t damn good at their jobs. If I get shot here in Chicago, I’m not going to see Dr. Gregory House. I’m going to see Dr. Whatshisface at Stroger Hospital because he treats gunshot wounds every day. And maybe Doctor Who because then we could just go back in time before the whole shooting thing anyway.
The new Bud Light cans are slated for a spring 2016 rollout. If you’re some sort of weirdo who collects beer cans or a beer lego master builder, you better start stocking up now.
