Best tasting cheap vodka will definitely surprise you

best tasting cheap vodka

Being the best tasting cheap vodka is akin to being the tallest midget or any other equally ridiculous analogy. No matter how it’s spun, the vodka still sucks. So why bother? Well, because some people are poor. Like homeless guys. And college kids. And internet writers.

In any case, cheers to Jason Horn for putting in the work so we don’t have to. And if you’re not following Playboy’s “Indulgence” channel on YouTube, you’re definitely missing out.

Vodka expert picks best tasting cheap vodka

Cheap vodkas are not all created equal. Or at least, that’s what we learned when we made our spirits writer Jason Horn blind taste five different vodkas available for under $12: Smirnoff, Svedka, UV, Popov, and Pinnacle. Watch Jason suffer through each taste test to learn which bottom-shelf vodka came out on top.

Taste is subjective, but I struggle to believe that Popov is the best tasting cheap vodka. Then again, I haven’t had it since college so maybe I’ve come around. That was the same time I swore I’d never drink Wild Turkey again, and now look at me. Guzzling it like there’s a bourbon shortage.

My one problem with this taste test is the claim that these are bottom shelf vodkas. $12 is definitely cheap, but I can think of multiple brands that are less than $10 for a half gallon. Now that’s bottom shelf.

Svedka and Smirnoff are middle of the road vodkas. Inexpensive, but not bottom shelf. There’s a special place in hell reserved for those plastic handles that are guaranteed to leave your praying for a lobotomy the next day.
