Dollarita: Applebee’s is slinging margaritas for just $1

applebees dollaritaWhen was the last time you had a drink at Applebee’s? If the answer is anything more than three days ago it’s time to hop in the Subaru. Why? Because a TJ Maxxinista and a McDonald’s Dollar Menuaire forgot to use a condom and now we have the Applebee’s Dollarita… a margarita that only costs $1.

Applebee’s® Neighborhood Grill + Bar will be offering $1 margaritas, known fondly as the Dollarita™, as part of the month-long national celebration of Applebee’s Neighborhood Appreciation Month. It’s seriously just $1 – 100 pennies, that’s all. Served on the rocks, these $1 margaritas are available from open to close at participating Applebee’s restaurants every day in October.

Is this $100 Margarita the cocktail steal of the century?

I haven’t seen a $1 drink since I was back in Ann Arbor slamming $1 Long Islands every Thursday night at Scorekeepers. The closest Applebee’s to me is 30+ minutes away, so I’ll likely never know if the Dollarita is any good, but it’s probably at least decent. I assume the thought process behind the Applebee’s Dollarita is to get people to see the suburban beacon as a place to drink, so slinging something terrible would definitely backfire.

“We focus on our food a lot, but ‘bar’ is in our name, and it is an integral part of what makes Applebee’s a great neighborhood destination. Our $1 margaritas in October give us a chance to show our guests a little love, giving them a totally unbeatable offer as a gesture of our sincere appreciation for their patronage.”

Aside: Back in high school, a few of my friends locked another friend and me inside an Applebee’s foyer until she would ask me to prom. She did. I went. It was fun. Thanks, Applebee’s.
