Boozist

Aperol definitely know how to throw a spritzy party

A few weeks ago I attended seven events in four nights. It was an aggressive binge, but they were all worthy endeavors, and I rarely turn down an evening affair. One of the standouts was the Aperol Spritz fueled Factor Chosen Summer Soirée, which we attended for three excellent reasons.

  1. The 1st Lady of Boozist loves not being the tallest woman in the room.
  2. “Upstairs at the Gwen” is an absolutely beautiful lounge and terrace.
  3. Aperol was the event sponsor, and I love Aperol.

Any of of those would be reason enough to attend, but the three combined made it irresistible. The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Michigan Avenue Chicago and it’s terrace are an amazing place to relax with a drink or party the night away. They even rolled in an Aperol bar cart, which Lauren foolishly agreed to having in our yard someday.

In addition to models and bottles (bubbles by Haute Couture), there were endless Aperol Spritzes and Watermelon Sbagliatos to be had. And while the two cocktails may be kissing cousins, they’re each uniquely delicious.

Aperol Spritz: Aperol, Mionetto Prosecco, soda water, orange slice
Watermelon Sbagliato: Campari, Cinzano 1757, Mionetto Prosecco, watermelon & maldon salt

Rained threatened early, but it wasn’t long before one of the models, Dominique Davis aka DJ Storm, had a solid contingent within the 500 attendees dancing with drinks in hand (the only way to dance). I can’t think of the last time I was dancing at a rooftop party, but there’s a first time for everything.

All photos were taken by the great Nick Gerber.
